Stop fitting tiles to the windows you have. Make the windows fit the tiles you want.
Opinionated tiling for macOS, inspired by Hyprland. Every window has a place. Nothing overlaps, nothing gets lost.
Beta 0.1.0 (build 12) · macOS 13 or later · Apple silicon (M1 or later) · 1.4 MB · Free during the beta
JimiOS started with years of frustration at clunky, complicated window and tiling tools on the Mac. On Linux, Hyprland and Omarchy make tiles look great and feel effortless. Why can't a Mac have tiles that cool? So I built JimiOS for the Mac, in Rust, inspired by Hyprland. — James Hallam, Softwired
Everything is always visible. Windows tile automatically, side by side. A window that doesn't fit goes into one overflow row just below the screen, never under another window.
Keyboard first. Nine workspaces, arrow-key focus and moves, one key to change layout. The mouse still works: drag to resize, drag to swap.
Built for real desks. Plug in a second display and its workspace comes back as you left it. Unplug, sleep and wake keep every window where it was.
The beta isn't notarised by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm it once.
To update, quit JimiOS from its menu, drag the new version onto Applications and choose Replace, then repeat steps 3 to 5. To remove it, choose Uninstall JimiOS… from its menu.
Tell us through the Softwired support portal. Include the version and build (in the disk image's name and in JimiOS's menu) and what you were doing.

JimiOS is a Softwired beta: free to use, provided as is, and it changes often. It needs Accessibility access to move windows. It uses window titles only to manage windows, doesn't record the screen, and sends nothing off your Mac.
